Everybody working in Business today needs a stunning headshot that they feel represents them well and that they are happy to see out there in the marketplace as personal branding is paramount. You need a photo that is uniquely You, that shows your personality and spirit, that is appealing, vibrant and dynamic whilst at the same time shows that you are approachable & friendly and someone that we would like to do business with.
These days clients want to see the face behind the business in preference to logos and ads. Things have got very personal with the World of Social Media up there in the corporate world. Your headshot becomes your calling card, it is often on your business card, website, emails, Linked In, Facebook and Social Media profiles. It may be the first thing we see before we meet you, so it’s important to make a great first impression.
Of course, in these days of corporate photography, it’s about a lot more than just a good headshot. You will need some eye-catching banner images to go across the top of your emails or website pages, some press release images to go with your latest project, team images that sum up your approach to business, images to promote any special event you have coming up and the list goes on. It is true that a picture is worth a thousand words…a great photo draws us in to want to know more a great photo can turn a press release into a major newspaper feature…a great photo becomes a historical document.
Before you book your corporate photography have a think about all the promotions, publications or events you may have come through the year so that you make sure you create a smorgasbord of imagery to suit your needs. Then have a brainstorming session with your photographer…either face to face, by email or phone so that you can share your thoughts and make sure that you are on the same page & can share ideas and inspirations with each other. Start an image ideas folder, add any images that you love, whether it’s the style of shot, a mood of image, location, fashion, props, hairstyles or the feel of an image that grabs your attention. Share this with your photographer…not that you want to try and copy but it will give your photo shoot a direction. Choose your fashion wisely for the men a suit that is now too small or a shirt that you cannot do up the top button to, under a tie is not a good look, make a decision about whether you want to be freshly shaven or prefer a 5’o’clock shadow look.
For women… choose outfits that fit you well and chat to your photographer about the best colourways for the location that you have chosen to use. Make sure your outfits are pressed and on hangers and not getting crushed in a suitcase pay particular attention to the necklines make sure nothing is frayed and that the neckline suits you. If you ‘colour’ your hair, make sure your colour is current, photo-shopping hair roots are one of the hardest things to do without it looking like block colour. Having your hair styled and make-up was done can make you feel extra special for your shoot make sure you have a matte finish make-up.
Some shine on cheekbones and lips is fine but we prefer a matte finish on the faces otherwise it can look like perspiration once the studio lights hit you. We will powder down any shine on the guys faces too before starting the shoot. Don’t worry if a pimple or blemish appeared overnight, this can be photo-shopped out but if you have an eye infection or toothache that has caused swelling or red eyes best to postpone your photography. Any portraiture can be enhanced with some good photo-shop editing which will minimise some wrinkles, bags under eyes, frown lines and blemishes. But you still want to look ‘real’ and not over photo-shopped it still has to be you. Fotoforce photography are experts at bringing out the best version of yourself.
